Principle Seven: Be Grateful

Gratitude is what you give back to the Universe. It completes the loop that takes you back to Joy. Once again it's a focus issue. From a Neuroplasticity perspective, whatever you focus on strengthens the neural networks. Whatever you focus on expands. Focus on what is going wrong in your world and guess what? - you become even more ware of what is going wrong and subsequently you have less Joy in your life.

Focus on what is going right in your world and what you are grateful for - and you have more Joy, more appreciation for life, and more happiness.

This is the seventh month of this Program so your daily practice of meditation and being present should be strong. Focusing your awareness now on the things you are grateful for is your task for this month. As with the previous Principles, begin with the theory and the exercises in the toolbox, then commit half an hour per day to the Core Practice.

Core Practice

The core practice is to take time at the end of every day to write down at least three things that gave you joy during the day and why you are grateful for them. Remember to focus on how they made you FEEL.
