Gunter Pauli has the air of the revolutionary about him. It is easy to imagine him in another time and place with a six shooter on his hip and a half smoked cheroot hanging out of the corner of his mouth.

Imagine a world where all streets and highways are lined by specially engineered tress that absorb the noxious gases released by cars and trucks, where all new housing developments set aside land for suburban forests aimed at improving the atmospheric environment.
